Why do our online orders calculate state sales tax?

In accordance with the law, our global parent company (Capstone Publishers) has a physical presence in each of the United States and is therefore obligated to charge applicable state sales taxes for all individual online purchases.

Schools, school districts, and other tax exempt organizations may avoid paying their state sales tax by providing a valid tax exempt certificate.  The law requires that purchases made by individuals, using their own personal means of payment, be taxed even if they are going to be reimbursed by a tax exempt organization.  Only purchase made directly by tax exempt organizations are tax exempt.  If you mark your order as 'tax exempt' and we do not have a corresponding tax exempt certificate on file, Customer Service will contact you to obtain one.
